Is my Trek hybrid bike good enough for the paths of limestone? I have a hybrid bike Trek 7300 with Bontrager Invert Hardcase, 700x35c tires. I rolled on the rocks, the other day and started wondering how hard of a trail on my bike can handle.
You can ride on dirt, but I would avoid very technical trail features - rocks, logs, roots for the most part. The bike is not designed to handle much more of this kind of thing (the geometry of the bike is very helpful in maneuvering around the subject). Do not remove any jumps or drops, even a foot. These devices are designed to handle pavement and dirt roads, but no real trails. The welds are not as deep in the joints and the geometry is not designed for aggressive hiking.
If you are riding on the dirt and find you do not have enough traction, you should get something with a little action studded ... try cyclocross tires in the range of 35mm, because you know that your image can handle this, or if your bike can handle it, find it relatively lean 29er mountain bike tires (perhaps 1,5-1.75 inch ). It will probably run you at least $ 30 per tire. Make sure the tires do not rub the frame anywhere and you have plenty of clearance at the fork and stays.
As for the wheels, as long as you avoid technical tricks and jumps, they should hold up fine. You may need to obtain the correct most often (restated). In addition, make sure you have enough air in your tires so you do not pinch or bend your apartment rhymes.
I have a 7300 and i ride off-road all the time he usually ached my bike was on the trail so GO FOR IT Ruff
I suppose it comes to how much you weigh and how fast you plan to ride the trails. For the most part, I do not think you have something to worry about as long as the frame goes. The biggest concern would be your wheels. I'm not sure if your rims 700c can contain up to much trouble ... Have fun, but be careful or you'll be in the bike shop that you just explained how a smooth transition tabletopped and eventually walk home with a taco'd wheel.
The bike should be fine and can handle almost anything short of aggressive mountain biking. The important factor is that you get a good grip with the tires.
