Smurf Merchandise

Posted on June 21, 2010.
Smurf MerchandiseWhat was the matter of anachronisms in the Smurfs?

If the Smurfs were the Middle Ages in Europe, what was with all the anachronisms?

Why do some Smurfs wear smocks (Painter Smurf), overalls (Handy Smurf), tattoos (high) and clothing style modern-day amenities and use of modern-day tools and devices? Handy would build some modern-day gear, usually.

Why do some Smurfs have accents?
Painter was a French poet, was a British farmer has been New England, and had a Miner Irish.

Why did they Astrosmurf and Supersmurf? How could they know anything about space travel and rockets?

Supersmurf was a real character in the cartoon?

Why Smurflings t-shirts, caps and sports shoes and overalls?

Did they do that if viewers could relate? I noticed in some Disney cartoons so they do the same thing: Hercules and Aladdin, for example: Genie was referencing things in modern times and to create, and Hercules, they had things like fast food and merchandising .

Part of it was so, so that viewers could relate. However, another part of it was to make certain characters and their roles identified.
For instance, Handy Smurf. If someone asks you to draw a carpenter, how would you do to make it identifiable? When people think "carpenter", many people think of a man in overalls.

As for other things, such as merchandising and fast food in Hercules, and more attractive to a modern audience, some of it is humor. "Look, this person needs a job, what would be funny? Oh Fast food! As it is a mythological creation that we can do a parody ... "etc., etc..

The Smurfs were European, and therefore propaganda coconut, watch a cartoon AMERICAN, traitor

Dude honestly, I do not think anyone is for Smurfs to be interpreted too .. it's just a cartoon children, originally by Belgians in the BD in 1958. But the cartoon shows are made in the 60s and 80s and they can write inventions day about modern, etc.

There is no sense of logic and rationality (one vs Smurfs 100 Smurfette was weird) I would not look too.
I think the smurflings wearing this gear, because it symbolizes the children or teens. So yes, perhaps viewers could relate.

And in regard to American cartoons ... you would be surprised how many American cartoons are not even animated there. Simpsons for example, is made in Korea
