mini deaths and 4.5 K Bill .... advice? Yesterday, my copper Mini I heard from since Jan. 7 in Bognor overheating. Fortunately, it happened right next to a garage so I pulled in to take a look.
Their diagnosis was a split in the connecting part between the die and heat-pipes that the water flowed out. I went to Eastleigh if it was not good! The garage said they had no time to fix, but may be a temporary solution that would make my final destination, as I conducted with moderation.
1 / 4 of a mile from Eastleigh Mini car cuts and will not start. I dragged a BMW / Mini and advise the engine ceased up to 4.5 K .... for a new one!
Now they have looked at what the original garage and has so far pointed out that: The first leak was diagnosed as follows: Pressure test on the cooling system, no pressure taking place in the system. Find the initial leak was part connecting the heater matrix pipes.
This was only temporary, but was repaired very poor (ineffective) and repair the car should never have been conducted since the nature of the fault. ref: "I was informed that if driven carefully it was safe to drive your Eastleigh where they were in Bognor - Scotthall BMW / Mini does not share this view.
Naturally, I am amazed at this case and the cost, I am also angry that the garage Moose went on this path that led to this result.
I do not really know where to go from here with this so I asked for some advice.
Did he act original garage in a totally unprofessional, damaging and Carless as I would apply for them?
Do I have any other policy options open to take?
to rub salt into the wounds of the car warranty expired in January
you can not really take action against the dealer who made a temporary repair because they make you that he would make his journey they never said he did drive .. and you've made the decision to drive the car knowing there was something wrong with it. you would have to prove the garage acted negligently and you had no choice but to continue your journey there and then with a problem with your car.
try to get an engine rebuilt, it will be cheaper than a new one, will you at the dealership, because they will tear more than anyone. Everyone knows that if you do not pay for your repair you stay away from the concession.
but as far as the garage is you can not do something for them
You can not blame the other garage. They diagnosed the problem exactly the same as the MINI Dealer. They offered to try a temporary solution, knowing that you are traveling on the road and I tried you and the car safely to your destination. The key word here is "temporary solution". Which is exactly what they said it was exactly what they did and that is exactly what you agreed to pay. Unfortunately, the temporary solution has been at least temporarily, while you had hoped. The never said that the car was fixed. They just wanted to help you make your way to your destination.
So tell me again, what did they do wrong to get angry and I think you can file a complaint against them?
It's a shame that the engine of the MINI seized, but the first garage is not to blame. If anyone is to blame it for such a BMW car unreliable. Or maybe it is you do not meet the recommended maintenance schedule. When was the last time you had this car for service? Who knows, but it is sure not the first garage. They are not at fault.
What is your next step should be is to repair the car. Locate a garage and made a second estimate. The level of dealer service is far too high and you can probably get the job done for 30% - 50% less than the MINI dealer you mentioned.
