Development

The camshaft 5.0 liter single (SOHC), 20-valve V10 Turbo Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine pushes the Touareg from standstill to 100 km / h (62.1 mph) in 7 , 8 seconds, and 230 km / h (140 mph) maximum.
The 6.0 liter overhead cam dual head (DOHC), 48-valve W12 engine version was originally intended to be a limited edition model with only 500 units planned for production: approximately 330 have been provided for the sale Saudi Arabia, the rest being sold in Europe.
