Trying to find a Mustang '67, '68 Fastback!? Am in Australia trying to find one of these babies in a state of shell-rolling restoration. I was looking for about two months and found nothing in this state. Does anyone know the fate of one for sale ????? I have $ 12,000 to spend on one.
I tend to stay away from unique cars magazine, because everything is about way too expensive. They have what you want, but at inflated prices. It is better (for finding a good deal) or in the Tradingpost The Quokka.
If you intend to stick to UniqueCars, take a look at the site that goes with it. Uniquecarsales.com.au, they have everything in the magazine list, and more things not in the magazine.
Also, talk to a car importer who specializes in the import of steel from the United States. You do not even need to go through them (if you do, they will give you a stateside agent that is convenient for checking the titles and inspect the car). I know a guy who robbed in 66 California and was a partner there and see for himself, and then prepared for an importer to bring in the country. There have it delivered really cheap too, because they had more space in their containers to fill anyway (very rare opportunity for all cars, but this type of arrangement may be common with parts of replacement to fill the extra space in a container). Lucky guy. imports Cobra I think they were called, he was a few years.
A bareboat rolling should cost you several Grand. Well below $ 12,000, by any means. Just be careful when you look at American cars (already in the country or not) - Americans tend to half **** even their "good quality" restorations ..
.. They usually slap paint, re trim inside, and throw on some alloys period. Lift the hood and it will be 40 years of cobwebs, lift the head and it will be 40 years of wear.
