01 Hyundai Santa Fe 5-sp manual w / blown engine. What engine can I replace it? Other models? Can I put a V6? Dealer will not fix.
You can buy a used engine from a place of recovery for less than $ 1,000 and it will cost about $ 1,500 for the engine installed. Check eBay and http://www.autopartsearch.com/index.cfm I see the 2.7L V6 engines actually sell for less than 2.4L I4. Ask a mechanic about whether you can put the V6 in place of I4, that is the best engine option if cost is not much more to install.
I found that this engine is interchangeable with the Sonata engine. This is the kind of answer I wanted. Flag
Not possible without much work. It will not be worth it.
Try another Hyundai dealer. Prove that you had the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles with regular oil changes. What good is a 10 year, 100,000 mile engine and transmission warranty, if you can not enjoy it?
The V6 would not be worth the cost. Call a salvage yard and car to find a car has reached the driver's side or back or if something fell on top, but no roll overs. Buy the engine and to replace them used. If u can afford reviewed before installing.
