Hybrids today are a scam. They use extremely complex drive systems, batteries with a limited lifetime and the energy required for their production is double that of a conventional vehicle. And efficiency is not very good. The Prius is not the best value for money, there are other cars with the same fuel that are much cheaper to buy. There is no hybrid trucks on the market. If you need a truck just look what diesels are on the market and that it has increased fuel consumption. That's the best you can do for now. When the purchase is worn away, there will be much better around.

The engines are hybrid gasoline. Gasoline is much worse for the environment than diesel. Ford does not do hybrid transportation, but they both business an LPG. If my memory serves, they did since 1973.

as others have said hybrid is not exactly environmentally friendly because they are supposed to sound. 1, cadmium and lithium batteries are huge open pit mines in China and other underdeveloped countries, mostly at the expense of vast areas of forests or other oxygen producing plants The treatment gives such heavy metal pollutants in water streams can no longer sustain life .. and efficiency of IC engine used to recharge the batteries is often compromised in the sense that they are half as effective as the standard vehicle.
If you run around the city consider a gasoline vehicle converted to run on LPG so as to reduce the levels of pollutants
or if a diesel van Run it on eco or bio fuel. This way you can be sure of reducing emissions. But then again not as bio are friendly or as a trolley or a horse and cart. :-)
