Hybrid vehicles have exploded on the Western market today. The rising cost of gasoline is a necessity. The environmental issue has also paved the way for the popularity of hybrid vehicles. Governments are also doing their part to encourage the use of hybrid vehicles. Driving a hybrid car can mean tax benefits in the form of tax incentives and tax credits.

The Japanese have been leaders in the race of hybrid vehicles and has already produced some of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the world at very affordable rates. U.S. automakers have decided to join the race releasing their own lines of hybrid cars.

Hybrid vehicles use an electric battery that powers and is accompanied by a combustion engine. Depending on the type of engine and model of car, the electric motor and combustion engine model can work independently and dependent on the other. Here are the popular hybrids on the market today:

aec Toyota Civic Hybrid

Introduced in 2005, the Honda Civic Hybrid increased fuel consumption and to date, the cleanest emissions on the planet today. It has increased energy efficiency over five percent. In 2006, Toyota Civic Hybrid is comparatively better than the 2005 model power and torque hybrid more than twenty percent of fuel making it effective, fast and affordable. The car gives a smooth ride for the driver, with little effort when the foot on the accelerator pedal.

The new Honda Civic Hybrid 2008 is a bit shy to MPG or miles per gallon on the highway compared to 50 miles per gallon of the 2006 Civic Hybrid. However, fuel consumption has been greatly improved on the 2008 version.

The U.S. manufacturer of sensitive pickup launched its own range of hybrid vehicles, especially in the SUV department. The Escape Hybrid is modeled on the Toyota Prius. The system operates on the Atkinson cycle operation have greater expansion taking in less air-fuel mixture. The result is a car more efficient and more economical fuel consumption.

General Motors, makers of the most popular SUVs in the country have decided to redirect their activities towards a greener car that still offers the power, size and style that makes them very popular with people from all walks of life.

2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid was named Green Car of the year because of its fuel economy significantly improved in the division of V8 engines. The Tahoe Hybrid boasts of 21 miles per gallon and the efficiency is higher than the Toyota Camry sedan which also has a V8 engine. Power and torque are not compromised and the fact that these larger vehicles, higher energy efficiency, it is a good choice without sacrificing the advantage of large size.
