Gas Saving Vehicles

Posted on May 1, 2010.
Gas Saving VehiclesWhich gas saving vehicles are more comfortable for tall people like me (6'5 ")?

No hybrids please and 4 cylinder models only.

I'm 6'5 "and on the market for a new vehicle. The only thing that matters to me is that it is a 4 banger that gets great gas mileage 25-30 MPG + large and not less. I have test driven many cars, but they just sat too low to the ground for my taste.

I feel like I have to crawl down into them and I do not like the way you literally reach of the wheel as it is 4 feet in front of you. Many people have mentioned the Ford Escape, but a colleague had a model 2WD 4 banger as a rental car once the best, she left the thing was 22-23 mpg.

I like Ford Ranger, but the last four-cylinder model I had got 22 mpg highway. I feel I'm in a rut here. Am I just going to realize that there simply was no comfortable non-hybrid for tall people that get 30 mpg +?

Get the new Ranger with the 2.3 Duratec four-cylinder and a five-speed.

I drive a 2006 Ranger XL daily - like a runner truck parts auto parts store, said the mine did not have figures on the front wing fleet. Typically, if I look at my speed and movement at the recommended intervals (10/20/30/40 mph change points according to the owner's manual), I can get 28 mpg or better on the road. If I stay at 55 or less, that rockets up to number 32 mpg-plus. At times when I drove 55 on my trip and could go a week without running the air conditioner, I got all the way up to 38 mpg a couple of times. Of course, these few hours are defined exception, not the rule.

But I should probably benefit from all this by saying that 90% of my driving is on the divided four-lane highway without traffic lights.

Remember, you are the biggest variable in this kind of performance you get. Drive gently. Limit fast starts and stops. Using the brakes is a waste of fuel, so try to coast up to traffic lights and give them time to change while you are still moving if possible. In addition, regular maintenance of your vehicle is the key. "I change my oil every 3,000 miles and always use factory specified Motorcraft 5W-20 oil and filter FL400. I mind my tire pressure - I run 32 psi front, 36 rear. In an indication 50,000 miles, ContiTrac home on the front are still in great shape - but again, it probably has something to do with the majority of my driving being on the road straight with very few turning necessary.

If you want mileage above 30 miles per gallon, it should stick to cars. Some cars are more spacious than the others because of the high roofline. These cars are Ford Focus and the Pontiac Vibe. I Vibe since 2003 and is very spacious with a high roofline and with seats folded down, you can put the same amount of stuff in it like the Grand Cherokee or output ... Furthermore, I approached the city and 30mpg highway combined.

What model Ranger was it?

The 98-01 2.5L I4 MPGs not stellar for what it was.

The 2.3L Duratec DOHC I4 new should eat for lunch in terms of power and MPGs.

I do not know what is comfortable for a 6'5 "Guy, if, as I'm 5'11" ... you should sit in the walks yourself.

Try a Volkswagen Beetle. I'm serious.

(You can still fairly low on the ground, but good.)
