What is the most efficient car battery for an electric car conversion? I plan to convert my electric car for commuting. Can someone tell what battery is the most effective for this purpose, what it costs, and if a battery hybrid Prius is available to the public?

You can help convert your car to places like this:

Or, you can have an expert to convert your car to you:

As for the use of hybrid batteries, sorry, they will not sell them for you. Ni-MH batteries used in hybrids are great for electric vehicles, but patents for these advanced batteries have been purchased by Chevron / Texaco, and now licenses the patent prohibits their use in pure electric cars. Absolutely true story. Read about it here:

Most conversions are still using the old technology of 100 years of lead-acid battery, which is relatively inexpensive (the battery in my EV costs under $ 1,000), but your driving range will be about 50 miles . Various interests have been able to set up roadblocks (NIMH as the story above) to more advanced batteries.

However, if you're a bit of an engineer, you may be able to obtain new Chinese Li-Ion batteries. A few fans I know have been able to obtain and use these, but you should design your own charging system (or get help from an engineer.) Link:

Look at the chart on this page - the battery has beaten all other technology there, and less expensive per watt.

Good luck!

Good luck with the conversion is not simple. I would look in a Blue top Optima battery. The battery is designed for AMP stable long runs. Unlike regular car batterys that are designed for high amperage short startup. As an electric outboard motor on a boat.
yes I would say the same Optima Napa are the best, I use 3 blue deep cycle in my car and hook as I use an inverter of 900 watts and have powers ac for a couple of hours stop, the blue half of last one year since discarge almost daily total, the best thing about these batteries are how fast they recharge the power alternates, half empty Back to full charge in 5 minutes at idle so empty about 10 minutes by car is one unreal battery coil were also higher after a home and a larger surface coil as a cost about 180.00 each, but worth it .
dude, I do not really think it works
Is this a trick question? How on earth can you convert your gas engine to run power hungry? its impossible. Need an electric motor to drive your gear for that. I also wonder how on earth back in the late 1970s (I own a 1979) you could buy a car 52 and 54 mpg today, even these new cars double standard does not come close to that! I am referring to the Volkswagen Rabbit and Dasher .... but many others also came close to mid-40's to 50 mpg range at the time!
The others are right, but the Prius battery is not designed for what you want and is very expensive. The Optima blue tops are good, but expensive.
The conversion is easy, but TAKE YOUR TIME is a website
