California sales tax for cars from a private seller DIRECTLY to export? Hello. The sales tax in California is high (~ 9.75%), so if I want to buy a car from a private vendor in order to export directly by sea, this effect does not use California Do I pay for sales tax? They could have another name for it, but I'll have the car towed to the shipping company as soon as I bought it.
You will not be able to legally export unless the title is in your name. You can not get a title without paying sales tax.
California sales tax is 8.75%, except in some cities that might be 9.25%

Because you're sending it out of California you're not going to save
