Is this a good idea to buy a Mini Cooper with high mileage? I used to have a Mini Cooper and I drove up to 75,000 (ish) miles. I've never had any problems with the engine / transmission, or something like that. While they are expensive to maintain, as much as new tires and wheel alignments, and even oil changes, I was wondering if it's a good idea to buy a Mini Cooper with the mileage between 70.000 to 100.000 + because I am totally on the budget, like the rest of the world.
You should also consider that this car can be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates prior to purchase, for example here - carinsurance.deep-ice.com
Given the choice, avoid high mileage. If you are interested in this one, at least they evaluated by your own mechanic to ensure there are no surprises after the sale.
IMHO, more important than the mileage is the model year. I'd happily take over 2005-06 with miles instead of a low mileage 2002.
Before shopping for a MINI, I would recommend this as a must-read: http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53- ...
Use this section to guide the pre-purchase inspection of your mechanic so you can guide them to areas of concern for each year / model.
Good luck!
