BMW 320 diesel starting problems? The other day I changed the headlight bulbs - back in the car and it wont start. The starter does not rotate. I jumped out of the car started then ok starter turns. I replaced the battery alternator checked - checked for loss of night cannot charge the battery to find fault. BMW year 2000 - 320 SE Diesel.
Battery was tested and found fault before it is replaced? Maybe just need to be replaced. Remember that a diesel engine needs a lot more power the starter and battery
Given the high pressure that the piston has to overcome in the transformation.
In addition to the loss overnight of the battery load test that you have already done
try to test power consumption. The crude way is to put an ammeter between the battery terminals to the ground and chassis ground (with the closed car, opened the trunk, but the lock when locked). After about 16 minutes of electronics of the car is supposed to go to sleep and the current draw should be between 45-65 milliamperes. momentary peaks are not important. But continuous or prolonged high draws means something is wrong which should be diagnosed later.
But remember to disconnect the battery terminal erases radio codes, clock settings, and favorite radio station.
