American cars? Why do people think American cars are unreliable.I do not get it, Ive had 3 fords with over 250,000 miles my car now has 170,000 miles miles. My Dodge 180.000 A / C van it.The I left it make the shuttle is a ford with 243,000 miles.Ive saw crown vics and cars can city 200 300 400 000 miles.Ive never even had a GM but there are probably also good. Why people think American cars suck I do not understand not.
I have no idea!
My Dodge and Plymouth had and still have nearly 200,000 miles on them and I can still crush Honda all day
Toyota and Nissan are null
Most American cars are struggling with reliability issues until this decade. Once you get screwed over by American companies you never want to buy anything from them. Of course, they were very reliable vehicles in the past too, the ones you have ownership, most of them most were not. I like American cars more than any other car on the planet, but it's just the truth. Now, Ford is equal to Toyota in quality and better than Nissan and Honda are tied with the manufacturer to be the most safest car in the country. GM is getting there, but still needs some work on their cars. And honestly, Chrysler is not good at all to make vehicles safe and reliable. I mainly stick to Ford and GM.
It's just that some countrys like Germany are renouned for attention to detail in the production of something really. Japan is known for revolutionizing the world of electronics, it is to carry the reputation of vehicles. However, in the modern world can American car companys hire the same engineers as Germany or Japan and may choose to pay what they want for research and development and price of the car accordingly. And finally, it's just a myth, the last time I checked a report on outages Chrysler Ford and GM vehicles average about the same as Mercedes, Audi and VW.
just thought I should add that the other person said, the government will need a fleet average of 35 miles per gallon of a major U.S. automaker in 2020. Some lobbyists are pushing for a more efficient fuel standard, I've heard as high as 68 mpg.
Many of those who buy cars, do not take care of them at the dealer or get the multinational hand cars from lots. American cars really do not promote energy efficiency. It may be preferable, but the characteristics of the American car and building are not as attractive of cars manufactured elsewhere.
American cars have done very well for me too. I have no complaints.
As Americans, we are very patriotic. We love our American products because they keep us going. In the late 70s and through the 80s, the quality of American car did suck. Compare the Japanese and German cars in the same time, and we lose. This caused a bad stigma that will not disappear easily.
Look at how many brands of foreign cars have factories in the U.S. today. If we built junk today, they are not here to ruin their reputation.
I am self-employed and had two browsers I have used and abused in my contracting company.
With minimal maintenance, I gave the first (1994) with 165.000 miles on it which leads to my son every day and my present (1998) has 180.000 miles on it and I use reliably. I plan to buy another explorer in the spring.
It seems that owning a rice burner is the current bandwagon that everyone is jumping on - it makes little sense to me.
and just in case you do not know. any vehicle, no matter who the manufacturer. is only as good as the maintenance that has gone into it.
your American cars are just as good law and people who say they are bad are the very ones who do not take their vehicles in good repair or operating
Because they use but they have not and most people are still stuck in the past.
