1967 GTO for sale The Pontiac division of General Motors introduced the GTO (Gran Turismo omologato) in 1964. The GTO has survived a relatively brief but eventful, which included model 11 years and 3 generations of vehicles. GM has finally managed to revive the Pontiac GTO in 2004 by Holden, a subsidiary of Australia but amounts to a three-year period without inspiration that failed to capture the public imagination.
The original GTO was a 1964 option package on the LeMans Pontiac, available as a convertible, hardtop coupe or a 2-door coupe. The line of Tempest, which included the GTO, was redesigned for 1965, while the car was longer and produces more power. In 1966, the middle line was redesigned again. Pontiac Tempest has the body shape of the Coke bottle that swept the American landscape of the automobile at the time.
The 196 GTO 7 for sale model year marked the end of this first generation, and this important because the differences between the first and second generations would be dramatic. The following year, the Pontiac GTO A-body would adopt as a basis for other notable GM muscle cars like the Chevrolet Chevelle and El Camino. GM could also use a variant of the A-body as the basis for the Monte Carlo in 1970.
The 1967 GTO for sale comes in three body styles. Pontiac sold 65,000 hardtops +, 9500 + convertibles, sport coupes and 7000 +. Visually, Pontiac made the GTO in 1967 for the separate sale of its predecessors by replacing taillight strips coated with eight separate rear lights, four on each side. In addition, the grid now contains chromium, moved the Pontiac GTO emblems chrome rocker panels, and Rally II wheels with color wheel nuts are optional.
The 1967 GTO for sale also suffered mechanical changes he stood apart. Pontiac replaced the fuel system of the Tri-Power with a new four cylinder carburetor Rochester Quadrajet. The 389 V8 that was available the previous three years has gained wide cylinder bore so that the displacement was now 400 cubic-inch (6.6 L). This new engine is available in three configurations: economy, standard and high performance.
The economy edition used a dual carburetor body instead of the Rochester Quadrajet, where it limited to 255 horsepower and 397 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. The standard version of the engine, which does use Quadrajet Rochester, produces 335 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 441 lb-ft at 3400 rpm. The high performance motor negotiated a small amount of torque for a great power. He hammered out 360 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and 438 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm.
Emission controls are present on the engines of the GTO that GM sold in California. In addition, as all vehicles at this time, the GTO received new safety equipment, including a recent federal law was responsible. The new equipment includes emergency flashers to four lanes, a steering wheel to absorb energy and the steering column, instrument panel, padded, and non-protruding knobs.
In addition, Pontiac replaced the two-speed automatic transmission with the TH-400, a three-speed transmission Turbo-Hydramatic. This new transmission included the Hurst Performance Dual-Gate shifter, which resulted from either automatic or manual. front disc brakes are optional for the firs.
