BMW has never produced a vehicle called the X6? Me and a friend are in a debate on the existence of a car called the BMW X6. We recognize that it is in development for release in 2007-2008, but I say it is the first time BMW has used the nickname on a production vehicle. She thinks it was / is the name of a low volume production crossover SUV /, are not sold in the United States, or only sold in limited markets. So what is the history (if any) behind the "X6"?
"The Platform BMW E70 will be the basis for future X5 SUV. It will replace the BMW E53. It is scheduled to be released some time during 2007, and will be much larger than the current model and E53 is rumored to accommodate two additional passengers. The increase in size is due to the size too close to the current generation X5 and smaller X3 model.
The next generation BMW X5 is 60mm wider, 165mm longer, with a wheelbase 110mm longer, but will remain at the height of the current generation X5 to 1715mm. The SUV will be built alongside the new BMW X6 2008 BMW South Carolina plant in the United States. "-Wikipedia.org
